Smoked Whiskey Sour

Such a simple yet powerful twist on the classic. Whether you spell it whisky or whiskey this is a must try! Smoking your glass before or after you add your cocktail can provide a delicious deep woody flavour (a bit different than a peaty smoke) this one is spot on... as long as you like whiskey and smoked things!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz whiskey (I've used bourbon, rye, Japanese whisky, all delicious)

  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice (a little more lemon here because the smoke is a bit more concentrated than 1:1 but feel free to play with it)

  • 1 teaspoon simple syrup – (simple syrup is a 1/1 ration sugar/water)

Add ingredients to a shaker, add ice. Shake for a count of 5 - 10 (not fully diluted).

Instructions - using a board

Burn the wood block with a torch for a few seconds until you have a little smoke. Next, place the glass over the burnt wood for a few minutes. Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass with a large cube of ice, rub the rim of the glass and garnish with a twist of lemon and enjoy! For fun you can always flame the twist also!

Instructions - using a infuser

Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass with a large cube of ice, Next, turn on your smoking gun and infuse the pitcher with smoke for 1-2 minutes; close the container with a piece of saran wrap so the smoke is trapped into the glass. Swirl the drink, rub the rim of the glass and garnish with a twist of lemon and enjoy! For fun you can always flame the twist also!
